Sauced In New York Sometimes the food is in the sauce, sometimes we are
Perhaps the end of the Mayan calendar is just the turning of the page, a new chapter. It will be winter solstice when you read this and, if you’re a small business owner in New York State, the date that the last quarterly sales tax of 2012 is due.
But as I sit in my living room, watching the snow turn the world new again, I’m thinking about beginnings and endings. I’m thinking about how grateful I am for the family and friends that I have, for being able to sit in a warm house while the Christmas tree my roommate and brother and I cut down in the woods glows prettily, and knowing that tomorrow I’ll wake up to a town covered in white. And because my quarterly sales tax is due tomorrow, I know for a fact that the world won’t end.
