I was really psyched to write this blog entry as a result of a freshly stocked bar and a garden that’s a-blooming, but then I read this parody of trendy menus and thought, err, maybe this an unnecessary entry into a world already saturated with cocktails infused with herbs and artisanally made bitters. Spoiler Alert: the cocktail I’m going to write about includes basil, fancy celery bitters and a reference to the Meyer lemon bitters my mother made in December.
But then I made another drink and decide, why not?
- 3 thin slices of cucumbers (I’m okay with the skin, but it’s up to you)
- 4-5 basil leaves
- Lime juice to your taste
- Vodka of your choice (I like Tito’s or Vertical. Due to unfortunate decision making skills as a teenager and my father’s reaction to aforementioned choices I cannot drink Absolut.)
- Seltzer (as I wrote about in a previous blog – one with a very similar photo to this blog, sorry – Poland Seltzer has an awesome flavored selection this summer. Cucumber melon is spectacular. Lime is classic.)
Muddle the first three ingredients. Add as much or as little vodka. Top with as much or as little seltzer as you like. Stir. Drink. Enjoy.
